Shane Thomas McGowan was born on March 6, 1988 to Sheila McGarvey and Dr. Randy McGowan in Greenwich, Connecticut. Shane was the older brother to Colin McGowan. Shane grew up in Amsterdam attending local schools. He was a hard working young man who worked full time as a Direct Support Professional at Liberty Enterprises while attending college full time. After graduating from The Sage Colleges with a degree in business, Shane became a Hearing Specialist at Miracle Ear. This was a career he both excelled in and loved.
Shane was a preternatural athlete as a child and his passions were baseball and golf. Later he became an avid video gamer and had all the gaming accessories which made him quite the nerd. Shane loved the Yankees and was able to attend two perfect pitch games (David Cone and David Wells). He attended the 1996 World Series with his uncles Brendan and Sean, as well as, his brother Colin when the Yankees beat the Atlanta Braves to win the World Series.

Shane’s life changed when he met the love of his life, Erin Vertucci. The duo spent their time living life to the fullest and Erin brought out the social butterfly in Shane. He loved introducing Erin to family and friends. Shane was planning to propose to Erin on his birthday while on vacation in Mexico but he couldn’t wait and proposed to Erin the same night he picked up the ring. Shane had such a great time at their wedding and wanted “ a do over” to experience their joyful day one more time. Shane had just received a mortgage approval on October 5th and was so excited to move to the next stage of his life filled with hopes and dreams with Erin.
Shane will be forever loved and missed.
