Amanda Halse

Amanda Halse, 26, passed away on October 6, 2018, in a tragic accident in Schoharie, NY, with her boyfriend, Patrick Cushing, 30, and 16 others on their way to a birthday celebration.
Amanda was born on April 18, 1992 in Troy, NY. She was the beloved daughter of Martina (Wieblitz) Halse and Edward Halse Jr., and the middle sister of Karina Halse, 21, and Kevin Halse, 34.
Amanda was a vibrant and creative soul. She was spontaneous, witty, and her infectious energy and laughter drew in anyone who met her. Amanda was a talented artist who loved to draw and paint and often surprised her family and friends with gifts she created.
Amanda spent a happy childhood in Westport, NY, and the family moved to Fort Ann, NY, in 2004. It was here that Amanda made many of her closest friends, including her best friend for 13 years, Olivia Fuller. Amanda cared deeply for her family and friends, and always looked for opportunities to spend quality time with those she loved. There was never a dull moment in her presence, and laughter was inevitable.
Amanda inherited a love for flowers and plants from her mother. She filled every space available with them in her apartment that she shared with Patrick and their two cats, Vernon and George. Patrick and Amanda had been together for more than two fun-filled years, going to concerts, breweries, and any adventure that lay before them.
Amanda lived fully and boldly. She was a source of strength and support for her family and friends. She tattooed ‘Never Give Up’ on her foot as a reminder to her loved ones in difficult times.
Amanda is survived by her parents, Edward Jr. and Martina Halse of Fort Ann, NY; her sister, Karina of Fort Ann; and her brother, Kevin and his fiancé, Paige Zahaba and her daughter, Caliegh Zahaba of Glens Falls, NY. She also leaves behind her maternal grandmother, Gisela ‘Oma’ Wieblitz, and uncle, Sebastian Wieblitz, of Dülmen, Germany; her aunt, Heike Wieblitz and cousins, Mateo and Helene Wieblitz of Berlin, Germany. She is predeceased by her grandfather, Hans-Dieter ‘Opa’ Wieblitz; paternal grandparents, Mary and Edward Halse; and her uncle, Joe LaMountain.
Amanda’s adventurous spirit will live on through her family and the many friends she brought together during her time with us.
