Michael Ukaj

 

Sgt Ret. Michael Christopher Ukaj, age 34, of Caroga Lake, passed away unexpectedly on his 34th birthday on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from a tragic limo accident in the Town of Schoharie. He was born in Queens on October 6, 1984, a son of the late Shaban Ukaj and Mary Fletcher Ashton of Winterport, Maine who survives. Michael was a High School graduate of Hampden Academy in Maine and also received his Bachelors Degree from Fulton Montgomery Community College. He honorably served his country as a Combat veteran in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Iraq War. He also worked in Security and also for GameStop. Michael also volunteered with Search & Research of Upstate New York. Michael loved to help people. He is survived by mother, Mary Ashton and Kyle Ashton of Winterport, Maine; two brothers, Jeremy Ashton and David Ashton, one sister, Violetta Ramsey; one nephew, Alexander Ashton; several aunts, uncles and many cousins. Memorial visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown. Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc. Niche Interment with military honors will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, New York.
